“Debbie Glade came to our school to introduce her book and inspire our children to read and write. She did all of these with wit, charm, and direct interaction with our students. What a wonderful day for our students and I highly recommend a visit to your school as soon as possible.”
- Ginger Sauter, Principal - The Village School, Naples, FL

"Thank you so much for your visit. The students were mesmerized during your presentation. They thoroughly enjoyed the different voices, the dancing, and learning about Costa Rica. It was fun and very educational. As a media specialist, I will definitely recommend a visit from you to fellow media specialists. Good luck with Lilly Badilly!"

- Eleonora Fleitas, Media Specialist from Norma Butler Bossard Elementary School, Miami, FL

"I can't thank you enough for all you have done for the students! They were very excited an loved your book and costume."

- Alina Orenstein, Media Specialist from Grasy Waters Elementary, W Palm Beach, FL

"Debbie Glade put on a wonderful show here at Coral Sunset. The kids were excited to meet her and were enthusiastic throughout her presentation. She looked adorable in her Lilly costume and the students thought it was such a treat to see her dressed up like the main character of her story. This program was a treat to have for our First Graders!"

     - Christina Yarbrough, Teacher from Coral Sunset Elementary School, Boca Raton, FL

I will visit your school or library to present a fun and educational, customized program to suit your needs. There are 12 Themes of Learning in The Travel Adventures of Lilly P Badilly: Costa Rica:

  • Travel
  • Culture
  • Geography
  • Flora and fauna
  • Conservation
  • Cooperation
  • Fears
  • Problem Solving
  • Family situations
  • Multi-media
  • Music
  • Reading
  • Any or all of these topics can be discussed in a fun way. If you offer an evening or weekend event, my family can perform some of the songs from the CD live. Adults enjoy our program as much as kids do. Debbie would love to come to your school for an affordable indoor field trip!

Please call or email Debbie for details about what the program entails. smartpoodle@comcast.net. 954-328-7465.

We Want This Program to Continue to Be Free For Your School.

So we ask that you allow us to sell the book/CD to your students or teachers (at a deep discount). We need to sell a minumum of 25 books to cover our expenses. Please call or email me for further details.

    . We offer 2 options:

    1. Deep Discount - Students may buy the book at a special 35% discount offered only to schools. Students pay only $15 per book/CD combo!

    2. Donation Back to the School/Library - To help raise money for your school/library, books will be sold at $20 (including tax). I will then donate 20% of the sales price back to the institution for each book that is sold (a minimum 25 books must be sold for donation to be made). That is a $4 donation per book sold!

The book and CD are both educational and entertaining, suitable for children ages 5-10. On our recent program to the Lee County Library in Fort Myers, kids as young as 3 and as old as 11 enjoyed our event!

The CD is a complete narrated version of the story with different voices, an original musical score and authentic sound effects from the Costa Rican rainforest. Children who are just starting to read (and those too young to read) can listen to the CD as they follow along with the illustrations. Advanced early readers will also enjoy this story as the book is geared toward their reading level. No matter what the reader’s abilities, all will truly benefit from listening to the CD. It really makes the story come to life.

Smart Poodle FREE Author Visit and Middle School Program

    Announcing the Smart Poodle Publishing

    Middle School Program

“So You Want to Be a Writer”

Read about our recent visit to The Village School in Naples

I will visit your school or library to present a unique and educational 45-minute program for middle school students. This program is completely different than our Elementary School visit. Obviously middle school students are not the target age for my picture book/CD, The Travel Adventures of Lilly P Badilly: Costa Rica. But nevertheless, the students are fascinated by the life of a writer. I will talk to them candidly about my bakground, the creative writing process, illustrating a book, recording it on CD and getting it manufactured and published. Students will hear all about the differences between self-publishing and traditional publishing. I give them insight into the creative process, what inspires me and how I deal with writer’s block. I share with the students the importance of reading in life no matter what career path they choose. They will receive specific examples of how to improve their writing habits. I also include a special motivational section sharing my own personal challenges when I was their age, giving them a lot to think about after the program has ended.

Even though middle school age students generally prefer books for older readers, they have been interested in my book/CD after listening to the program and are eager to buy a copy. Plus the book is quite advanced as far as picture books go, and struggling middle school readers can benefit from it.

Please call Debbie for details about what the program entails. smartpoodle@comcast.net. 954-328-7465
