Be Thankful

What are you thankful about? Think about it. Thanksgiving should be more about the thanking than the eating. Come up with 5 simple things right now. Here’s what I am thankful about today:

  1. My family’s unconditional love and support
  2. Having had eleven incredible years with my dog, Gigi
  3. Receiving 90+ entries for our contest so far!
  4. Thriving tomato plants in my garden!
  5. Warm, sunny weather day after day

Be Thankful

This year I’m not hosting the usual 20 or so people for Thanksgiving dinner. It’ll just be my family of 3 plus 2 cousins. But the truth is, I’m still making the same number of dishes I usually do, just less quantity. Yet I’ll still have a humongous stack of dishes. Here’s my plan to stay organized:

Sunday – (Today) Make a list of all dishes you plan to make. Include a note where you will find the recipe. (i.e. cookbook, magazine, online, recipe card, Aunt Betty, etc) Clean up the house.

Monday – Make a grocery list of all the ingredients you will need and where you will shop for them.

Tuesday – Set the table and make it festive. Grocery shop for as many items as possible to avoid the Wednesday crowds.

Wednesday – Make all the pies and ice cream from scratch. Last minute shop. Set up a bar with soft drinks, wine etc. Take out all serving dishes and utensils needed for Thursday.

Thursday – Cook all day while watching the Macy’s Parade! Gather up family members to tidy up the house. Welcome guests. Enjoy! Clean up. llow guests to help!

Friday – Clean up more. Leftovers.

Saturday – Clean up more. More leftovers.
